Overview
Astro Chat turns Roblox TextChatService configuration into a focused visual workflow. Design the chat window, input bar and bubble chat; create permission-aware player tags and reusable system message types; preview the result in Studio; then generate the client and server runtime from one plugin.
Astro Chat is a Roblox Studio plugin for creators who want a branded chat experience without maintaining a pile of disconnected formatting scripts. A compact viewport toolbar opens dedicated Chat, Tags, Messages, API and Settings panels, while Apply and Save generate the runtime used by the experience.
Design the complete chat surface
Configure the Roblox chat window, input bar, channel tabs and bubble chat from one editor. Global controls cover fonts, text sizes, colors, transparency, window scale and visibility. Changes can be previewed through Roblox’s real TextChatService chat during Studio play testing.
Permission-aware player tags
Each tag can define a prefix, display name, front or back placement, colors, font size, emphasis and priority. Access can be open to everyone, limited to specific UserIds, or granted from a minimum group rank. Tags can auto-equip, and experiences may show one tag or stack every equipped tag. Server code remains responsible for deciding whether a player is allowed to equip a tag.
Reusable system message styles
Create named message types for announcements, warnings, errors and other experience events. Server scripts use AstroChatAPI:SendMessage() to send a styled message to everyone, one player or a list of players without duplicating presentation rules throughout the codebase.
Generated, repairable runtime
Astro Chat writes a small managed runtime into ReplicatedStorage, ServerScriptService and StarterPlayerScripts. The plugin can load an installed configuration, save edits, repair generated files or remove the runtime while keeping configuration. Generated source carries a managed notice so the plugin remains the source of truth.
Release numbering
This product page is release 1.0. The supplied Studio plugin and generated runtime identify themselves internally as build 1.6.1. The two numbers serve different purposes: 1.0 is the public storefront release, while 1.6.1 is the included plugin/runtime build.
